The lesser-known, SMES electric vehicle infrastructure grant

The Workplace Charging Scheme grant gets widely discussed in the EV industry, but have you heard about the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Grant for staff and fleets?

As the demand for electric vehicles increases, businesses should consider installing EV charge points. These charge points benefit business owners and their employees as they can charge their vehicles on-site and earn revenue from charging.

We’ve shared a guide explaining the infrastructure grant to help SMES with the costs for EV charging installation.

Electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets

The infrastructure grant helps small and medium-sized businesses with the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points at their site for staff and fleet vehicles. It enables businesses to install multiple chargepoints with a minimum of five spaces.

The EV infrastructure grant can cover installation now and in the future, supporting the socket and wiring installation.

This grant covers 75% of the installation cost, up to £15,000, including:

  • up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed
  • up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure

Who is eligible for the grant?

  • SMES with fewer than 250 employees
  • Minimum of 5 off-street parking spaces
  • Chargers applicable for staff or fleet use (not public charging)

You can receive up to 5 grants across 5 different sites. This grant cannot be used alongside the Workplace Charging Scheme grant.

Apply for the grant.
