Start the Government Workplace Charging Scheme application process now or risk losing out on up to £14,000 of grants if the March 2024 deadline is missed.
Why you need to apply sooner rather than later
It’s just over six months until the Workplace Charging Scheme grant ends on 31st March 2024. The grant claiming process can take up to three months to complete, so we expect the industry to experience a bottleneck in capacity in early 2024 as the grant deadline approaches, which is why we’re urging businesses to start applying for the grants sooner rather than later.
If you're looking to save up to £14,000 on your business’s EV charger installation, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible to book a date for a site assessment so you don't miss out on these savings. When applying for the Workplace Charging Scheme, remember that you have to claim it within six months of the voucher issue date, so we’d advise that you have a good idea of who your EV charger installer will be to ensure the timings work.
What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) provides applicants with support for EV chargers' purchase and installation costs. The Government scheme is run by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) and is the most widely used EV grant.
The scheme allows for up to £350 per charging socket (maximum of 40 sockets) and can reduce the costs of installing a new charger by 75%.
Is the EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleet ending too?
This EV infrastructure grant will also end on 31st March 2024.
The EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleet allows for up to £850 to be used for each private parking space that the charging infrastructure and charger are required for, up to the value of £15,000 per building. If more chargers are needed in addition to those provided by this grant, then the Workplace Charging Scheme may be used simultaneously.
